I've heard this criticism from several folks but I actually like the apparent imbalance. London, after all, is somewhat mashed up to begin with. Would seem rather Swiss to have everything aligned left.

I really love the concept - but I keep feeling unsettled, because 'London' is centred and all the supplementary identities (eg. Metropolitan Police) are left-aligned. Any thoughts on this?

@Holly,

That's funny because I am a huge fan of Trivial Pursuit! Perhaps the colours are just baggage in my mind.

I actually used a set of TP cards from UK 1987 edition to get myself caught up on the culture when I lived there. Talk about a challenge, try playing with cards from another country!

Impressed with your concept. I'm too big a fan of blocks of colour not to be.

Amused slighty, however, that your choice of colours for categories art/history/parks/nightlife mirror their relevant catergories on the game Trival Pursuit...

Prescott,

Simple, insanely easy to take across media and departments, fresh—yet such a gentle nod to some of London's existing iconic graphic design that it feels like it's been there all along.

They won't get better, and when it's design-by-committees who were approved by committees, they're likely to get worse. Nicely done.

(Found your post through David Airey's LogoDesignLove. Going to peek through the rest of the blog now...)

Regards,

@Linda, I definitely agree that the copy is only a step above placeholder text, and the photos are the best I could find without dedicating my life to photo-scouring. But what's wrong with the art direction? Thought I created something simple enough to start moving without too much more refinement.

Thanks for commenting, I hope you'll be back!

[...] A brand for london “While famous for so many things, London [still] lacks a unifying, cohesive graphic brand identity under which all sectors can co-exist.
