Web 2.0 Logos Helvetica-tized

In what is certainly the beautiful typography moment of the week, I came across the blog of Micah Monserrat where he has “Helvetica-tized*” the logo of several popular Web 2.0 sites. By using Helvetica, the challenge becomes less how to make a shiny logo, and more how to use the concept of “graphic wit” to create something memorable.
Props to Micah.
However, I had to note the absence of one very site: Google. Here’s my 5-second mock-up of what could the big G could do with Helvetica to reflect the nature of their all-knowing company. It’s predictable, I know.

You’ll remember, of course, that I hate Google’s logo.
* note. For this blog post, I am using Micah’s American spelling of Helvetica-tized. Readers of this blog will know that in spite of my nationality, I spell using the British/International style for words ending in -ised. Same goes for colour, favourite, realise, and other common words with alternate spellings on either side of the Atlantic. (strangely enough, adding the extra U is actually easier to type. As is the S in place of the Z. Plus using S instead of Z makes the whole word slightly rounder and softer, which is nice.
