The Spoof is In

This has to be a new record for spoofing. The new movie poster for Henry Poole is Here is a clear parody of Shepard Fairey’s now-famous Obama “Progress” poster.

Henry Poole is Here

I don’t really mind the spoof, just pointing out the speed at which Hollywood took notice of the original art. I think it’s safe to say that movie posters don’t usually spoof, or even make reference to, other design work. (with obvious exception to Scary Movie and other spoof films) If it wasn’t already, the Obama poster is now officially part of the cultural collection.

It should also be pointed out that this poster is much more striking than the previous one for Henry Poole. One gets noticed, the other, forgotten.

  1. Here’s a link to the homepage for the new Luke Wilson movie Henry Poole Is Here. He’s definitely my favorite Wilson brother, and I’m looking forward to checking this one out when it hits theaters on August 15th! The movie also stars George Lopez and Cheryl Hines from Curb Your Enthusiasm. _http://www.myspace.com/henrypooleishere
