Pentagram Black Book unboxing
Today I got my copy of the Pentagram Black Book, which made its way around the blogosphere a few weeks ago. I, being not that important, only received one because I was quick enough to email in and request one. Lucky me!

Plain brown cardboard, perfectly sufficient. And not in a huge box like Amazon.

Celophane wrapping is a bit unnecessary, but whatever. This could have been a nice opportunity to use some kind of Pentagram-branded wrapping.

One of the many cool spreads featuring great work.

And of course it has an dictionary-style indexing tab system. Of course, it only helps once you’ve already gone through and noted which projects you think are cool enough to keep coming back to. It does have an index, which is pretty intimidating.
I’m excited to go through this book page-by-page and get inspired. Pentagram has a style I admire because they exercise restraint very well. The Pentagram style, from my observations, is simple, flat, geometric, and logical. Aspirational adjectives, methinks.
This book is about 1.5 inches thick so it will take me a while to get through. More as it develops.
