If you’ve lived in, worked in, or even visited London chances are you’ve experienced “The Tube“. Coming from New York, I’ve got plenty of opinions, both complimentary and caustic, but one this is clear — London Transport has an amazing tradition of design. And I’m not just talk about the evolution of Gill Sans, the unofficial typeface of Britain.
If you’re at all interested in modern design history, check out this article from the International Herald Tribune. It tells the tale of how design emerged, and how it’s been sliding ever since the War. Worth a read, certainly.
