Logo Design Process: CBS News
Finally, the design profession gets some screen time. In this segment from the CBS Money News, C&G Partners undertake a little 3-day exercise to create a logo for the programme itself.
Steve Heller, of SVA and New York Times fame, checks in with his expert opinion. The results, unfortunately, are going to a public vote.
Let’s think for a moment about if this is the image we want to send the lay public. Design is just a game — go and vote. Personally, I’ve always been against contents, even if the contest is between logos from the same agency for the same client. It just cheapens the process — a lot of folks worked hard, you know. Here’s a question: would the graphic design/advertising/branding profession benefit or suffer from the exposure brought on by a reality show? We’ve seen it for fashion design, interior design, cooking, building houses, fixing cars, and lots of other artsy-craftsy professions. With the exception of a few tasks here and there on The Apprentice, it seems communication design is not very watchable.
Yes, I understand the irony of my railing against contensts/public votes in spite of having posted one just the other day.
Saw this first on swissmiss. Thanks Tina!
