Apple + VW = iCar

We said back in 1998 that the then-new Volkswagen Beetles were the iMacs of Cars. That was of course due to the similarities in their bubbly design and candy-coated shells. VW at the time was one of the few car companies who marketed their cars in ‘fun’ colours, aside from the standard red, silver, black, etc. Do I really have to remind everyone about how Apple sold ‘Blueberry’ iMacs well into this Century.
Well, after several evolutions in design aesthetic, and a switch to brushed aluminum, Apple and VW may be teaming up for real to create the iCar. MacRumors tells the tale about a scoop they heard from a German magazine outlining possible details. By the now the information is hearsay upon hearsay, but take a look — the cool thing about the Internet is that you can just link back to the original source.
Apple already has a dedicated page for the integration of its iPod products into automobiles. Recently, Apple has worked with BMW for iPhone integration in 7-series models.
So the question on everyone’s mind now — black or silver? Something tells me those are our only choices. Keep in mind the black one will cost $2000 more.
One more note: What happened to all those American auto makers? Man, you guys just keep losing.
