We all knew this day would come, when the upside-down tax structure of the US has finally bankrupted municipalities to the point where local services have to resort to sponsorship and ad placement in order to stay afloat.

Autoblog has the scoop about how Toledo, Ohio is paying for a fleet of cars by selling 3×1 foot banners on the rear panels. That’s not exactly subtle.

Toledo PD Chief Mike Navarre has received more negative feedback than good comments, but the bottom line is that it’s going to offset the considerable annual cost of replacing all those cars.
