New Logo for A.C.

One of my favourite podcasts, American Copywriter, has decided to give their brand a bit of a spa weekend. With the debut of a new logo, AC seems poised for a big marketing push, led by a loyal following of advertising geeks and the podsphere faithful.
Well, I guess I’m one of them. Before you read any further, head over to the AC site, or their iTunes listing, and subscribe.
I personally think the new logo is really sharp. It’s simple, effective, well-balanced and modern. Very Web 2.0, and it will likely reproduce well on T-Shirts and other merch, not to mention on iPods, backlit in that little icon. I don’t know where it came from, but the point is, I like it.

Still, I had to take a second and make some changes, which I feel are improvements. All I did really was to give it some more depth and texture. To reflect the gritty, often dead-honest nature of the podcast, I threw some splatter paint texture in the background. Also, I substituted the American Typewriter font with one called Typeka, a more grungy rendition of the same. And I made the text bigger, and the gradient is slightly deeper. Plus it’s red instead of brown, making it more … American.
I really, truly, honestly, don’t want to be that guy who thinks his logos are better than all the rest — I just felt like playing with graphics for a few minutes. What do you think?

Scott…that’s really quite cool. Consider it under officially consideration. Thanks for trying to help us not suck. Seriously.
